Cannabis Flower

Flower is the smokable/ingestible part of the cannabis plant that produces the cannabinoids used for therapeutic and psychoactive use. Cannabis flowers are the reproductive organs of the female plants. Also known as nuggets, nugs, or buds, the cannabis flowers are hairy, sticky, and produce the resin that contains active cannabinoids. Actual flowering of cannabis plants can happen in either male or female plants, but female flowers produce the THC and other cannabinoids. When fertilized by male plants, the female flowers will produce seeds.

Cannabis purchased at a dispensary is known as loose flower. This is usually ground up before smoking, packing, or decarbing (for edibles).
